About Luis Patricio

Luis Patricio has been involved with community groups since 2004. Luis co-created and led initiatives like open street events, guerrilla gardening groups, public space renewal, citizen-led conferences, community art studios, CSA collectives, parklets, bike-to-school and bike-to-work programs.

Luis works in the nonprofit sector, as a part-time faculty at Huron University and holds a Masters in Urban Management. Living in London since 2016, Luis is always looking for ways to create welcoming and more sustainable urban spaces. His burning question is: how to enhance and share urban experiences?

You can usually find him on his bicycle, at outdoor events or his blog: luispatricio.ca

When did you first join the Urban League?

I've been a member through the local organizations I've been involved with in the past five years.

What role do you currently have?

Director at Large

Have you ever held any other roles?

No

Why did you join the Urban League as a Board Member?

I believe the most impactful work we can do happens at the neighbourhood/local level. The Urban League is a great organization connected to many of the community groups and initiatives in London. I joined to gain a better perspective of what is already under way and what is possible for the future, in order to contribute in the best way possible.

What Urban League advocacy focuses are you most passionate about?

I'm passionate about the engagement with City Hall, public policies and amplifying the impact of grassroots groups in London.

Are you currently, or have you ever been, associated with any neighbourhood or community groups within London? If so, which ones?

Some of the local groups and organizations I've been involved with include: Boyle Activity Council, Art Hive London, OEV Community Association, Patch London, Crouch Neighbourhood Resource Centre, London Cycle Link and Aiki Budo Centre London
