Feature: Orchard Park Sherwood Forest

Each Friday, join us as we learn a bit more about the active group members of the Urban League of London. This week, we will be introducing you to Orchard Park / Sherwood Forest, a neighbourhood association within London.

Orchard Park Sherwood Forest was incorporated as a neighbourhood association in 1990 but has operated within the community for much longer. They have been involved in protecting the character of the neighbourhood by fighting inappropriate development, encouraging a creative solution to the closing of one of the neighbourhood schools (now park land and new development), and protecting the Medway Valley Heritage Forest including fundraising to install a stairwell to protect the sensitive slope from erosion.

The current president of Orchard Park Sherwood Forest is Sandy Levin, overseeing 175 paid households in the association, but creating programming for the 950+ homes in the neighbourhood! They host an annual AGM, their annual BBQ, and during the municipal elections host all candidate meetings within their ward.

Orchard Park / Sherwood Forest joined the Urban League 15 years ago, with the goal to connect and work with other neighbourhood associations in the City.

You can connect with Orchard Park / Sherwood Forest on their website, by email at opsfrp@gmail.com or on social media (Facebook) for more information.
